Progress Summary

Why we are doing this project

The launch of the draft Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Safety Action Plan is a significant step towards safer, more connected streets and paths in the Town of Jackson and Teton County. The SS4A project is a multi-year planning effort to identify transportation investments and projects that benefit everyone, no matter how they get around. The plan builds on the County and Town’s extensive shared pathway network and transit system while systemically assessing roadway factors leading to unsafe conditions. Our team has considered community ideas alongside safety data to make sure the project is identifying the most significant needs across the region.

Who Will Benefit

The entire Teton County community, including residents, businesses, and visitors, will benefit from improved transportation safety and network connectivity.

What is the Estimated Timeline

  • February 2024: Process began
  • May 2025: Draft Safety Action Plan available for review
  • June 2, 2025: Scheduled approval by Jackson Town Council and Teton County Commission
  • End of 2025: Completion of the SS4A Safety Action Plan

Funding and Costs

The project is funded entirely through a federal grant and privately donated funds. Teton County and the Town of Jackson were awarded a US Department of Transportation grant through the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program to develop a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. Matching funds are provided through a private donation from the Garaman Charitable Foundation. The Comprehensive Safety Action Plan will enable the Town and County to be eligible for future implementation funding through the SS4A program.
