Petitions can be circulated for signatures only during the calendar year in which the election for the office sought is to be held.

Petitions shall be filed no less than 70 days before a general election with the County Clerk (local candidates) or the Secretary of State (statewide candidate).  The deadline to file a petition is August 25, 2020 at 5pm. Petitions must be accompanied by a $25.00 filing fee when submitted to the County Clerk’s office.

The Secretary of State or County Clerk shall determine from the official list of registered electors whether sufficient valid signatures have been obtained.
