Teton County Residential Food Waste Composting (Self-Haul)

Teton County Integrated Solid Waste & Recycling (ISWR) is excited to announce the Recycling Center will begin accepting residential food waste on August 1, 2022. This service is available to residents only who are able to self-haul food waste to the Recycling Center.

The residential composting program can accept food waste only.  Please see the comprehensive and printable guide below.

Food waste may be brought to the Recycling Center by residents between 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.  Please do not bring food waste outside of business hours as new Wildlife Feeding LDR's caution against unattended wildlife attractants.  Food waste may be hauled in 5-gallon buckets or less and the use of a compostable liner or bag is permitted; ensure you are able to lift and dump your own compost. Food waste will be visually inspected for contaminates prior to being dumped, any non-food waste found will be returned or your load may be rejected.  The tip fee for residential food waste composting at the Recycling Center is a flat rate of $2.00 per container.

Residents and commercial food waste generators may still self-haul food waste to the Food Waste Composting Facility located at the Transfer Station M-F 7am-3pm and Saturdays 9-1.

If you are interested in collecting food scraps for composting, and are unable to self-haul, there are many private businesses in the area that provide varying levels of "curbside" food waste pick-up services. WyoFarm Composting and The Worm Cowboy are a few.
